Dukkha (Pāli; Sanskrit: duḥkha; Tibetan: dukngal) is a Buddhist term commonly translated as “suffering”, “dissatisfaction”, or “discontentment”. It refers to “a basic unsatisfactoriness pervading all existence, all forms of life, due to the fact that all forms of life are changing, impermanent and without any inner core or substance.”^[1] The term indicates a lack of satisfaction, a sense that things never measure up to our expectations or standards.^[1] Dukkha is identified as the first of the Four Noble Truths.

New grist for the media mill. Shovel in the new topic, include a highlight and a back-story. Create the story, and fill in the pieces for dramatic affect. Sound bites and highlights, for our ADD McDonalds filled nation – in between looking at our gadgets and yelling at the kids. Human drama, sized to fit all.

Mock the guy for his beliefs. Judge him. Or don’t. It’s a rare ‘good story’ in a sea of media hyped-created-tailored- and a panel of ex-coaches talking points. Because at some point, it’s just a game – but the not to the machine.

Are they only random associations to feelings we think we once had? Relearned memories of events that never happened? That time in the back of the car when you were 8, that you were briefly happy. So hit best buy and walmart and amazon and the beer store. Go on that vacation and buy one more round, keep your ear to the ground and the shovel piling in the dirt. Then stir it up, little darling.
